An Open Letter to all Those Who are Passionate About Art & Life.
Dear fellow art enthusiasts and passionate lovers of life,
I am writing this letter to the ardent and dedicated lovers
of art, the highly imaginative, curious, and open-minded people, willing to
explore new ideas in pursuit of your creative vision.
As an art lover you know that art is not just a
form of entertainment, but an essential aspect of human
experience. Art has been with us as humans from the very beginning,
and is built into our DNA as something we need.
It has the ability to challenge our assumptions and broaden our
perspectives, and to speak to the deepest parts of our humanity.
Art has the power to connect us with one another, to question ideas, and to help us make
sense of the world around us.
In a world moving too fast, art has a rare, almost sacred ability to stop us
mid-thought, mid-scroll, mid-stride. It disarms us—not with volume, but with
presence. In one instant, we are no longer thinking about what comes next or
what just happened. We are here – transfixed – in this moment.
A single art piece can still the noise, awaken buried emotions, and stir
something deep inside us. We may not even understand why—but for those few
moments, we feel. We feel wonder, ache, memory, possibility and awe. We connect
with an emotion, – and we feel alive.
Art bypasses logic and speaks in the language of the soul, reminding us of
something we didn’t know we missed. And then, sometimes, just sometimes—it impacts and
changes us. Not loudly, not dramatically—but subtly, deeply. Like a seed
planted in the silence of our attention.
Art of all kinds is unique in its ability to inspire us,
especially when experienced with those we love, our friends and our families,
together in those valued moments of trust and camaraderie. Art creates
vibrancy, stimulates mental curiosity, creates interesting
environments, and creates shared experiences and bonds between family and
friends. Art can be the stimulus for intense happiness.
But the importance of art goes beyond its ability to inspire and
enlighten us. Art also has the power to challenge our thinking about social norms, expose
injustices, and offer new visions for a more equitable and just society. As
passionate art enthusiasts, we must recognize this power and work to use art as
a tool for social change.
As lovers of life, we know that every experience has the
potential to teach us something valuable. We recognize that our enthusiasm for
life has the power to inspire others, and to make the world a better place. We
see beauty and potential in every person and every situation, and we work to
bring out the best in ourselves and others.
So I encourage you to continue to embrace life with passion
and purpose. Take risks, try new things, and push yourself out of your comfort zone.
Connect with others and share your enthusiasm for life with those around you.
Be kind, be compassionate, and be a force for good in the world. I believe that
art can change you.
So I encourage you to continue to seek out new art forms and
to engage with artists who are pushing boundaries and challenging the status
quo. Find artists that move you - and follow them. Make them and their art, a
part of your life. Attend galleries and museums, support local artists and arts
organizations, search for art you like online, follow artists on social media,
and advocate for the importance of art in our communities. Let us recognize the
transformative power of art, and continue to explore it and use it to create a
better and more equitable world.
I believe the best life, A Great Big Life, is one lived
creatively. Creativity is a gift to all of humanity, that each of us can choose
to explore, or not. #greatbiglife is my homage and mission to support
those who want to live an inspired life to whatever moves you, through adventures
no matter how big or small, through the pursuit of creative things, adopting a
mindset and worldview that sees creativity as awe and wonder, giving the
ability to live a vibrant Great Big Life of vitality both mentally and physically.
It is the ability to think, imagine, create, and express yourself in unique and
meaningful ways that make you happy. I hope you will join me on this awesome
journey.
Finally, it is my greatest wish that you truly experience
love, whether it is through my art, or someone else’s, or through the love of
special people or family, or through your personal passions, or places and
experiences. Love is the core foundation of all positive human qualities,
including compassion, forgiveness, generosity, and personal happiness. Love
should be felt. It is a way of living and of
thinking. Embracing the principles of Love will move you into the world of light,
happiness, and a deeply fulfilled life. We should all want this.
I congratulate you for your pursuit and commitment to art,
and for your dedication to making the world a better place through its
transformative power. I humbly thank you for your support. Please let me know
how I can better serve you, or improve your life in any way.
Yours, most humbly,
Peter Ashworth, Artist
